Edwin Poole was born in Abingdon, Berkshire, England. He was educated in England and came to Canada in 1866. After a year, he returned to his native land. He returned once more to Canada in 1876 and began his photography business here. In 1900, he opened his studio on St. Paul Street. The studio was outfitted with the latest and best equipment. Poole also sold photography supplies and developed and printed amateur work. He was considered to be one of the best photographers in the country. He won numerous awards for his work.
