Quite a bit of work was done on DeVeaux Hall in 1887. This included: painting; paper hanging; oiling, filling, and finishing of the hardwood in the bathroom; glazing; 1/2 inch moulding, and the painting of a wardrobe. Rolls of cotton were purchased and obviously, Frank Begy Jr. did some of the work as it is noted that Mr. Woodruff had to pay for the younger Begy's time.
Frank Begy Jr. took over from his father. He was from St. Catharines and he had been the captain of the Volunteer Fire Brigade. He was described as a true artisan. He carried the latest and most fashionable wallpapers. It is said that the quality of his merchandise and his prices could not be beaten.
