Jeweler

With their involvement in business and community, time would have been an important commodity to the Woodruff family. Welland purchased a walnut clock and an alarm clock from Mr. Fowler.

Mr. J.B. Fowler was born in the United States. He built the Fowler Block in 1860. He was the first person not to use shutters for his store. He proudly installed a plate glass window. Unfortunately, this prompted someone to throw a boulder through the window on the very first night that it was there. Nevertheless, Fowler's store did very well. Their stock consisted of precious jewels, both loose and in rich settings. A speciality of the store was watchmaking and repairs. This department was headed by an expert watchmaker by the name of Daniel Fenwick.
