Abstract
In 1962, Parks Canada purchased the badly damaged and decaying Field House and proceeded to return it to its former glory. The home is one of a few in existence that survived the War of 1812. British troops, local militia and American invaders occupied the home during the war. Gilbert Field and his widow Eleanor Morden Field submitted war loss claims to the government in an effort to rebuild and repair the home and farm.
