Sarah Catharine Disher (1832-1845)
Sarah Catharine Disher was born on 8 April 1832 to Joseph and Martha (Gregory) Disher of Pelham. She died at the young age of 13 years, 3 months and 18 days as recorded on her tombstone in the Rockway Church cemetery.
The Disher-Roland home still stands today at the corner of Roland Road and Centre Street in the Town of Pelham. The home is situated on land originally deeded to Joseph's father, William Disher in the early 1800s. The Disher family is of German descent.
According to the 1980 calendar of the Pelham Historical Society, the home was built in 1810 after the marriage of Joseph Disher to Martha Gregory in 1809. The home would also become the family residence of a well respected descendant, the governor-general of Canada, Roland Michener.
