Jane Catharine Ball (1818-1854)
Jane Catharine Ball was born on 4 February 1818 to Henry Clement and Mary (McBride) Ball. The family was part of the large loyalist Ball family of German Lutheran origin that settled in the Niagara area shortly after the American Revolution.
Jane Catharine Ball was originally buried in the cemetery at St. Peter's Church in Thorold. At some point, her remains were reinterred at Lakeview Cemetery in Thorold. St. Peter's cemetery ceased accepting burials in 1886 at which time many remains were reinterred and placed at the Lakeview Cemetery. Reinternments also took place in 1926 when the St. Lawrence Seaway Corporation expropriated the land for canal purposes.
Jane Catharine Ball's memorial in Lakeview Cemetery also includes possible siblings:
Augusta Adelaide (1823-1870), Edward Clement (1829-1850), George Clarke (1833-1859), Thomas Francis (1827-?), Walter Henry (1822-1860), William Alexander (1826-1826).
