So Many Catharine's

Catharine Gross Bonner Keo (d. 1839)

The tombstone of Catharine Gross Bonner Keo

Catharine Gross was first married to Robert Bonner, a blacksmith, in Montreal.   In 1815, after Bonner's death, Catharine married George Keo, a shipwright.  Sometime around 1825, the Keo's moved to Rawdon Township, Quebec, a site of many Irish settlers between 1820 and 1850.

Catharine's youngest daughter, Isabella Mary (aka Mary), married Robert Wilson, also a shipwright.   In 1838, Robert and Mary Wilson, along with Catharine Keo moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake presumably to work at the Niagara Harbour and Dock Company repairing ships.

Robert Wilson died 11 July 1839 with Catharine following shortly after on 8 August 1839.  Catharine's husband, George Keo and the rest of the family remained behind in Rawdown where they held a memorial service for the dearly departed.

Catharine Gross Bonner Keo is buried in the St. Mark's Anglican Church cemetery, Niagara on the Lake, Ontario with her son-in-law Robert Wilson.
