Catharine B. Burtch (1799-1867)

Catharine B. Burtch was married to Gotlab (or Gottlieb) Burtch and resided in Thorold Township according to the 1861 Census of Canada.  By this time, she was already a widow, living with her sons George and Jacob.    According to the census taker, the family's origins were in Wurttemberg, Germany and identified religiously as Lutheran.   

It is possible there was an older son, also Gottlieb Burtch, living in Louth Township in 1861.   It is unknown when Gottlieb Sr. died or where he is buried. 

Catharine Burtch died 12 April 1867 at the age of 68 years and is buried in the Rockway Cemetery next to the Rockway Presbyterian Church.
