Postcards

Tourism

A postcard sent from Niagara Falls.  The brief message says "We are having just a lovely time", 1934

Niagara Falls has been a popular tourist destination since the 19th century.  Tourists would use postcards to stay in touch with friends and family while they travelled, or keep them as souvenirs.   They also served as advertisements for the visited destination, potentially prompting the recipient to plan their next vacation to the same spot after viewing the lovely sights on the postcard.

Niagara postcards featured many of the area's tourist destinations including the Falls, Whirlpool, Rapids, and related attractions.   Below are Niagara postcards featuring some of these popular tourist destinations.
