James Fusco, Composer in Residence

James Fusco received a Bachelor of Music from Toronto in 1976. He studied composition under Oskar Morawetz and conducting under Robert Rosevear. In 1979-1980, he was the associate composer for the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto. He became composer-in-residence with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra in 1981 and remained in that position until 1991. He was also the music director of the Carousel Players of St. Catharines from 1987-1990. In 1987, Fusco's Sanctus and Benedictus was premiered by the Niagara Symphony Orchestra under Ian Grundy. 

Other compositions include Music for an Immortal Beloved, Passion and Memory, and Five of Hearts. Fusco's Symphony no.2 was commissioned by the City of Niagara Falls for Ontario's bicentennial. 

James Fusco's Flying Carpet Concerts included: Moby Dick by Fusco, Peter and the Wolf by Prokoviev, The Wizard of Oz by Fusco, Don Quixote by Fusco, The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas, The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns/Fusco, Gulliver's Travels by Fusco and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Fusco.
