Niagara Grape and Wine Festival

Grape Stomp

Another notable event of the Festival is the grape stomp competition.  Contestants stomp a bucket full of grapes to see who can produce the most grape juice.  A longstanding tradition has been the Mayor's grape stomp competition, in which local mayors compete to raise money for charity.  Residents are asked to support their local mayor in the competition by providing a donation to the selected charity.  The winner is determined not only by the amount of grape juice produced by each mayor but also by the amount they raise for charity.
