Question 1: What are your feelings about wearing masks? Do you feel that masks should be mandated by government officials? Why or why not? Are these measures effective against the spread of COVID-19?
I dont know anyone that likes wearing masks, however, I do believe they help limit the spread. I myself have been wearing masks since March, as I work in a long term care facility.

Question 2: The Canadian - U.S. border continues to be closed to non-essential travel. Is this a good or bad decision for Canada? When should the border be reopened fully?
I think its imperative that the border remains closed. Goods continue to flow unimpeded. Many Americans ind their way in regardless, by legal means or by lying about events they must attend...ie. funeral. I know this to be a fact, some look up obituaries in the area they wish to visit declare that fact at the border, and then check into a hotel and spend time sightseeing with mo isolating at all. Were the restrictions loosened more, Canada would be hosting any number of Americans who dont follow our rules.

Question 3: Niagara has seen a large number of visitors from other regions of Ontario on weekends and holidays. This has helped businesses and tourism. But it has also led to crowded venues and the potential spread of COVID-19. What can be done to balance safety and economics?
I really dont know, other than having security (or staff of local businesses) try to keep crowds separated or moving at safer distance. I realize that's incredibly difficult to accomplish, as I also realize how important tourist/travellers dollars are to businesses that have suffered losses throughout the pandemic. There doesnt seem to be any easy solutions to this problem, sadly.

Question 4: Schools from kindergarten through university/college have reopened. How has the Ontario government handled the return to school? Are schools safe for students, teachers and staff? Is online learning a good alternative?
I truly believe that children benefit by learning in a school environment with other children. My grandchildren attend a small rural school so class sizes have not been a huge issue, however the majority of children attend school in cities where class sizes are by necessity much larger. If cases of Covid occur, they will spread rapidly. I hope the government is taking the safety of our children as the highest priority.

Question 5: Do you think that there will be a significant second wave in Canada? Why?
As numbers are rising in Ontario, I feel that the second wave is already beginning. I believe that covid fatigue is the issue.

Question 6: Most people had to cancel plans for a special event, vacation, or activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What did you miss out on? Would you be comfortable returning to these within the next year?
We are missing out on a family wedding and travel to see family in other parts of the country.

Question 7: Where do you get your news and information about the pandemic? What sources do you find trustworthy?
From the news mostly, and online. I find the news more trustworthy than online.

Question 8: When do you think the pandemic will subside and we can return to some kind of normal life?
Not soon, I fear. Time alone will tell.
