Answer 1 - Masks:

Yes, masks should be mandatory. The science shows they are very effective. People should wear comfortable, well fitted ones that cover nose and mouth. This is a minor inconvenience and the whining and drama needs to stop. It’s common practice in Asian countries and they have quickly adapted with better infection control. It’s a shame we dithered so long and gave mixed information initially.

Answer 2 - Borders:

Keeping the border closed is essential for now. When infections drop, and remain low for a prolonged period and a vaccine is available then the border can cautiously be reopened.

Answer 3 - Visitors:

To help our economy, Ontario visitors should be encouraged and welcomed. Masks, social distancing remain mandatory. Enforcement of limited social gatherings. Clamp down on ‘party house’ rentals. Constantly educating the public. Have a sense of humour and empathy in messages.

Answer 4 - Schools

The Ontario government did not provide leadership, direction or financial assistance in a timely manner. The challenges of class building, staffing, busing etc were entirely foreseeable and should have been addressed before summer. Kids need in person schooling in a safe system. Safe education and health should be top priorities for the Ontario government.

Answer 5 - Second Wave:

Yes - infection rates will climb as people have become COVID weary and social media gives power to malicious nay sayers. We may not see the same level of hospitalization and morbidly as younger people reflect higher numbers. Older adults are generally more careful.

Answer 6 - Missing Out:

When a vaccine is available, I will return to activities. However, I believe I have already had COVID-19. If an antibody test was available, I would take it. Would appreciate knowing if a person can be reinfected.

Answer 7 - Sources:

Ontario and Federal government sources. Local health departments.

Answer 8 - Return to Normal:

When a vaccine is widely distributed.
