Niagara's Suspension Bridge Bank

This is a one dollar bank note from the unincorporated joint-stock Niagara Suspension Bridge Bank dated 1 July 1841. They issued bills in $1, $3, $5, $10, and $20 denominations. The pay on demand note is made out to C. Noble and it is signed by the bank’s President Joseph Hamilton and Cashier Gilbert McMicken. The Bank opened in 1836 and closed in 1841 amid a major recession. $62,384 in bills were in circulation at the time of closure.
