Come Celebrate Victoria Day!

How did St. Catharines celebrate Victoria Day back in 1874? In the grandest way possible!

The Queen's 54th birthday party was held in an illuminated Montebello Park. Entertainment for the event included: dancing music from James Weeks' Brass and Quadrille Bands, a hot air balloon featuring the flags of all nations, a race between a pig and an elephant, greased pole climbing, and a fireworks display by Professor W. Hand featuring a 'Grand Flight of a Fiery Pigeon'. All this and more for a 25 cent admission fee. See below for more details.
