Celebrating the Peach Festival!
Lately, there has been a steady supply of local peaches at our house and it made me think of this broadside poster.
In 1874, St. James Anglican Church in Port Colborne hosted a Peach Festival complete with lighted grounds and a band. Funds raised by the event went back to the church. It does not mention the specific need for money, but later that year the church did purchase and install a bell. The church had only recently opened in 1867.
