Celeste's Sketch

Dress Sketch and Material from Celeste Schmon

Eleanore Celeste Reynolds, better known as Celeste married Arthur A. Schmon in August of 1919. Her hearfelt letters are included in the Arthur A. Schmon fonds. She wrote to Arthur on a daily basis, sometimes more than once a day.

Arthur Schmon was in the United States Army where he served under Colonel McCormick as an adjutant in the field artillery in World War I. In 1919, he was discharged as a Captain. Celeste kept the home fires burning for him by writing in great detail about events at home. This is just a small example of her eye for detail as she describes a dress that she is having made for her. She even includes a piece of the material.
